"...As an artist only scratching the surface of her impending music career, she’s already discovered and developed a discernible ‘Doolie’ sound; rather than experimenting or uncertainly dipping her toes into different genres, she has instead found her strengths and hit the ground running with them..." (Gabrielle Vacher, Scenestr, Jan 2017)
Soulful, electro-pop songstress Doolie, created a stir from her well-deserved win at the 2016 Queensland Music Awards, and landed herself as a ‘finalist’ in the Most Promising Female Songwriter category of the awards.
In 2016, following her QMA win, DOOLIE released her award-winning debut single; 'Pristine' and continued to work with gifted producer/sound engineer: Elliot Heinrich (AYLA, Battleships, Pop Cult, Tempesst). She followed up with a second single: 'Exhale'. This song was shortlisted on 4ZZZ’s Hot 100. Her music video, 'Exhale' was also released and received airtime on MTV, and ended the year on a high with her video, shot by Brendan Williams, receiving an Australasian Cinematographers Society (ACS) Gold Award.
Following on from her 2016 releases, Doolie traversed to dark-pop in her songwriting with a story of intimate revenge in her latest single release: ‘KØLD’. Receiving ‘banger status’ by Vera Blue in a recent episode of PedestrianTV’s “Banger or Nah’, this song is darker than Doolie’s past singles and is a standout track in an already shimmering introduction into the Queensland music scene.
The texture between the lyrics and melody in the song exude passionate emotion throughout, and with Doolie's powerful higher register, it marks a progressive shift that shines through in her songwriting, further affirming her talent as an artist to watch.
In a little more than twelve months, she has fast garnered recognition with her 2016 releases..."and it’s now time to add Brisbane’s Doolie to the ever-growing list of wunderkind musos". (Jack Doonar, AAAbackstage, Feb 2017)
“Step aside. Cos Doolie's coming through, that's why” (Dave Ruby-Howe, TripleJ Unearthed, Aug 2017)
